Our story

Silver Whiskers Care began the way most meaningful things do — with a dog who was slowing down, and an owner who refused to accept that “getting old” was the whole answer.

My name is Bol Dang. When my dog started hesitating at the foot of the stairs, struggling to get up from his bed each morning, and flinching when I touched his hips, I did what most pet parents do: I panicked, searched the internet for hours, and found myself drowning in contradictory advice, aggressive affiliate sites, and content written by people who had clearly never watched their dog suffer.

“I didn’t need a veterinarian to write for me. I needed someone who had lived through the 2 AM worry, the trial-and-error of orthopedic beds, and the heartbreak of watching a once-energetic dog struggle to stand. That person was me.”

After spending over 200 hours researching mobility aids, joint supplements, orthopedic beds, and behavioral changes in senior dogs — and testing more than 50 products — I built the resource I wished had existed. That resource is Silver Whiskers Care.

Every health-related article published on Silver Whiskers Care is developed using peer-reviewed veterinary sources and reviewed by our Veterinary Advisory Panel before it goes live. We do this because we believe pet owners deserve accurate, trustworthy information — not just engaging content.

Silver Whiskers Care Veterinary Advisory Panel

All health-related content published on Silver Whiskers Care is developed in accordance with guidelines from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and reviewed against current peer-reviewed clinical literature before publication.

Our editorial team cross-references every health claim with trusted veterinary sources including the Merck Veterinary Manual, VCA Animal Hospitals, and AKC Canine Health Foundation to ensure accuracy and reliability for senior dog owners.

Our editorial process

We follow a four-step process for every article published on this site:

  1. Research — We consult peer-reviewed veterinary sources, AVMA guidelines, and clinical studies before writing a single word.
  2. Write — Content is written to be honest, practical, and accessible — always from the perspective of a real pet parent who has been there.
  3. Vet review — A licensed DVM reviews all health-related claims for accuracy before publication. Medical inaccuracies are corrected, not softened.
  4. Update — Articles are reviewed when new clinical evidence emerges. We display the “Last Updated” date on every article.

Our mission

To help senior dog families make confident, informed decisions — so their dogs can spend their golden years in comfort, dignity, and joy.

We believe that “he’s just getting old” is not an acceptable answer. Every slow morning, every hesitation at the stairs, every night of restless pacing deserves a real explanation — and, wherever possible, a real solution.
